We are currently seeking a Life or Non-Life Actuarial Assistant Manager to join our Actuarial practice. Our team comprises over 100 actuarial professionals across five locations in Africa: Johannesburg, Cape Town, Mauritius, Nairobi, and Lagos.

Your key responsibilities

• Supporting or managing actuarial audits on IFRS17 and Solvency Assessment and Management for life or non-life insurers.
• Supporting the Head of Actuarial Function and potentially managing HAF engagements for life or non-life insurers and reinsurers.
• Managing or supporting engagements covering ERM frameworks, ORSA, Risk Appetite, or other risk topics.
• Leading value-adding projects, including IFRS17 implementation and other emerging topics in actuarial work.
• Mentoring and coaching junior colleagues to support their development.
• Sharing knowledge and continually learning within the wider actuarial team.

Most work will be project-based, either for a specific period or on a recurring basis, allowing collaboration with different team members and subject matter experts, thereby gaining invaluable experience and technical expertise.

Skills and attributes for success

• At least 3 years of experience in the Life or Non-Life Insurance industry.
• Preferably, a maximum of 2 outstanding actuarial exams.
• Experience in financial reporting (SAM, Solvency II, IFRS EV) is advantageous.
• Team player and proactive self-starter.
• Curious mindset and eagerness to learn.
• Critical thinker with a solution-oriented approach.
