Job summary
A prominent advisory firm in Sandton seeks a Legal Advisor to support legal compliance and provide transaction support within the energy sector. Candidates should have an LLB, be an admitted attorney, and possess 2-3 years of corporate legal experience. Excellent communication and analytical skills are essential. This role offers the opportunity to make an impact in the economic development and ESG space.
Qualifications
- 2 - 3 years of corporate commercial experience (post admittance).
- Thorough knowledge of legal principles and procedures.
- Motivated to work in the economic development, ESG space.
Responsibilities
- Draft and review agreements, legal opinions, and correspondence.
- Provide transaction support, including legal documentation and negotiations.
- Support community engagement initiatives and ensure legal compliance.
- Conduct market research on relevant legal developments.
- Offer in-house legal support to the Economic Development and Projects (EDP) team.
- Provide advisory services on ESG matters and B-BBEE compliance.

Responsibilities:
- Drafting and reviewing agreements, legal opinions, and correspondence to ensure compliance and protect the firm's interests.
- Providing transaction support, including legal documentation and negotiations, to facilitate smooth deal execution.
- Supporting community engagement initiatives, ensuring legal compliance in all interactions.
- Conducting market research to stay informed on relevant legal developments and trends in the industry.
- Offering in-house legal support to the Economic Development and Projects (EDP) team, advising on legal risks and strategies.
- Providing advisory services on Economic Development, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) matters, and Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) compliance.
Requirements:
- LLB.
- Admitted Attorney.
- 2 - 3 years of corporate commercial experience (post admittance).
- Thorough knowledge of legal principles and procedures.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills to evaluate alternatives and provide recommendations on business issues.
- Excellent administration and organizational skills (corporate governance experience beneficial).
- Well-developed written and oral communications skills
- Motivated to work in economic development, ESG space.
- Prepared to travel within South Africa.
