Senior Purchaser (Machinery/Mechanical) - Manufacturing Company in Bayan Lepas
Our client, based in Bayan Lepas, is a manufacturing company specializing in the customization of automated machines and wafer-handling equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sourcing and Procurement: Lead the sourcing of machining parts, materials, and components from local and international suppliers. Identify and evaluate potential suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and reliability.
- Supplier Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors. Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms to secure favorable agreements.
- Purchasing Operations: Manage the end-to-end purchasing process, including purchase order creation, tracking, delivery management, and inventory control.
- Cost Control and Budgeting: Monitor market trends and ensure the procurement process aligns with budget constraints. Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive cost-effective purchasing strategies.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all purchased parts and materials meet the required quality standards. Collaborate with the quality control team to address any quality issues with suppliers.
- Inventory Management: Oversee inventory levels for machining parts and materials, ensuring adequate stock levels while minimizing excess inventory. Work closely with production teams to forecast and plan material needs.
- Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, new materials, and innovations in sourcing and procurement. Implement best practices in sourcing strategies.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier communications. Prepare and submit regular reports on purchasing activities and cost performance.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, production, and other departments to understand material requirements and ensure timely delivery.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements in all procurement activities.
Key Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field.
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience in purchasing, with a focus on machining parts sourcing and manufacturing materials procurement.
- Sourcing Expertise: Proven track record of sourcing high-quality machining components, parts, and materials from global and local suppliers.
- Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation and vendor management skills with the ability to drive cost savings and secure favorable contracts.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze purchasing data, market trends, and supplier performance to make informed decisions.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
