We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Retail Shop Manager to lead our retail operations. The successful candidate will oversee daily shop management, inventory control, staff performance, and customer service, ensuring smooth and efficient operations. This role requires strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and the ability to drive sales growth while maintaining high operational and service standards.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Inventory Management
- Oversee daily shop operations to ensure efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction.
- Manage inventory control, including stock rotation, product placement, expiration checks, and loss prevention measures.
- Develop SOPs for operational processes (opening, closing, sales goals, performance metrics).
- Monitor logistics, shipping, and fulfilment to ensure timely delivery and process efficiency.
- Ensure shop cleanliness, maintenance of equipment, and compliance with company visual standards.
- Analyse operational data to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
Staffing & Training
- Develop and execute recruitment strategies to hire high-performing retail staff.
- Conduct training programs on product knowledge, sales techniques, customer service, and operational procedures.
- Create staff schedules, assign responsibilities, and evaluate performance.
- Provide guidance, motivation, and coaching to team leaders and workers to enhance productivity.
- Manage shop performance, including sales forecasting, cost control, and profitability analysis.
- Analyse sales reports, identify trends, and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and implement strategies to drive sales growth and improve customer experience.
- Review workflow, staffing, and space requirements to optimize shop efficiency.
- Supervise customer service standards, resolve complaints, and maintain positive customer relationships.
- Oversee shop layout, merchandising, and promotional displays to enhance sales.
- Collaborate with marketing for campaigns, promotions, and grand opening events.
Finance & Compliance
- Assist in budget preparation and ensure operations stay within financial constraints.
- Supervise payments, tax-related matters, and financial security in the shop.
- Implement anti-theft measures and ensure compliance with company policies.
Requirements
- Diploma/Degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or related field.
- At least 5 years of retail management experience, preferably in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven track record in sales growth, staff management, and operational efficiency.
- Knowledge of inventory systems, POS systems, and retail operations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Must be able to work in Alor Setar on a daily basis and willing to relocate if required.
- Willing to work irregular hours as required by business needs.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
