About WFP
The United Nations World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. WFP's mission is to help achieve Zero Hunger in our lifetime by working globally to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry and that vulnerable populations, especially women and children, have access to nutritious food.
The Global Partner Countries Division (GPC) supports organization-wide efforts to meet resource needs at both the corporate and country levels through active engagement with governments and public sector institutions. The Thematic Team, established in 2021, aims to advance WFP’s climate, resilience, social protection, and nutrition portfolios through strategic fundraising, which requires a tailored approach compared to humanitarian fundraising.
WFP seeks to fill the position of Government Partnerships Officer for Social Protection at its headquarters in Rome, Italy.
WFP relies entirely on voluntary contributions for its projects. Building relationships with public sector fundraising partners is crucial for supporting projects that impact millions globally. Fundraising in the social protection domain is gaining momentum following WFP’s Strategic Plan, necessitating a targeted, cross-departmental strategy requiring specific expertise in social protection financing.
Education: Advanced degree in International Development, Economics, International Relations, or related fields.
Experience: Minimum of 8 years in partnership roles, with expertise in social protection policy, financing, and programming.
Fluent in English (Level C); knowledge of Spanish, French, or Arabic is a strong asset.
WFP offers a competitive package, details of which depend on the contract type and candidate’s qualifications. For more information, please visit the 'Our Work' and 'Countries' sections on WFP’s website.
