Position Overview

The Managing Attorney in the Child Support Division performs complex legal work, providing guidance to staff and managing legal functions at a regional office. Responsibilities include organizing work, interpreting laws, providing legal advice, and representing the state's interests in child support enforcement. The role involves supervising legal staff, managing court functions, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The position requires collaboration with stakeholders and may involve travel within the region.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor (J.D.)
  • Four years of full-time legal experience, including at least two in Family Law
  • Licensed attorney in Texas, in good standing with the State Bar
  • Knowledge of Family Law and the Texas Family Code
  • Skills in legal writing, mediation, negotiation, trial law, investigation, and legal research
  • Proficiency in computer use for word processing and data management
  • Strong communication, judgment, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively, provide excellent customer service, and work in person at the assigned location
  • Ability to travel up to 30%, lift 30 lbs., and work more than 40 hours as needed

Preferred Qualifications : Experience with Texas Child Support Program, high-volume legal practice, management, and proficiency in Spanish.
