Job description

Tyvak International is seeking new members to join their team to support space vehicle development. Tyvak focuses on developing and integrating key components and technologies into highly integrated and high-performance nano-satellite vehicles. The team’s skillset ranges from architecture, design, build, and test of mechanical, electrical, and software subsystems integrated into small spacecraft.

As Mechanical Engineer with experience in Launch Services - belonging to protected categories (L. 68/99), the candidate will join a collaborative team who coordinate and execute pre-launch and launch activities for innovative nano and micro-satellite vehicle solutions. The individual will be responsible for hardware development during all phases of a development cycle, including requirements, design, implementation, test, integration, and documentation in a fast-paced environment. A multi-disciplinary background is needed as well as creativity to develop innovative solutions to release satellites in space without jeopardizing safety or reliability aspects. It is expected that the individual will have an ability and desire to learn, grow, and discover continuously.

Specific tasks will include:

  1. Working in a small team environment closely with electrical, systems, mechanical and structural engineers to develop optimal solutions to complex problems
  2. Participating in hardware requirements generation, design, implementation, and testing discussion with multiple team members
  3. Design of both small and complex satellite deployment systems, involving mechanisms and miniaturized devices
  4. Develop assembly procedures, test plans, and fabrication documentation
  5. Participating in team discussions involving vehicle arrangement and design for ongoing and future projects
  6. Maintaining and updating the 3D model database
  7. Identifying appropriate materials and chemical coatings for deployment mechanisms
  8. Working in both an office and lab environment
  9. Address and deal with off-nominal scenarios, providing Go/No-Go decision in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Belonging to protected categories (L. 68/99) is mandatory
  2. BS or MS in Mechanical, Aerospace, or equivalent degree required
  3. Minimum of 2 years of experience in similar roles
  4. Strong mechanical background
  5. Ability in working with solid modeling software and FEA (SolidWorks, MSC Nastran)
  6. Knowledgeable and proficient in applying advanced engineering principles
  7. Quick to grasp abstract problems and creative in visualizing solutions
  8. Productive in craftsmanship and attentive to detail
  9. Ability to document complex designs and procedures with attention to detail
  10. Good communication with team members, and ability to provide and receive constructive criticism
  11. Ability to work with flight hardware in a controlled environment
  12. Ability to use precision inspection equipment, i.e. micrometers, indicators, (usually acquired by machining or other precision hands-on experience)
  13. Proficient use of written and oral English language is mandatory

Salary and benefits are EU market competitive and include Welfare, Benefits, Private Insurance, Flexible working Hours.

The gross annual salary (RAL) will be commensurate with the candidate's level of seniority, expertise, and overall contribution to the role, ensuring a fair and competitive package.
