We have an exciting opportunity for a Communications Officer to join our team and play a key role in ensuring residents, Council employees, and key stakeholders are kept informed of activity, results, and positive stories from our partnership with Basildon Borough Council.
About the role
As our Communications Officer, you will thrive working in a fast-paced team, promoting, managing, and protecting the partnership through proactive and reactive public relations and delivering on an integrated communications plan. You will be responsible for managing the content used in the council’s communications channels and producing engaging content that helps inform residents of the repairs and maintenance partnership.
Working closely with the Tenant and Engagement team and the Council communications team to deliver engagement opportunities and events, you will build relationships with residents and capture invaluable insights, which you can then feedback to the wider teams.
The role is based in Basildon and will require working from the Basildon Civic offices for a minimum of three days a week.
About you
You will be a people-person with an inquisitive nature and a creative flair! A confident self-starter with a passion for creating engaging stories and using a variety of web and social media tools, you will have demonstrable experience in communications and be confident capturing and editing videos, and using design packages such as Illustrator, Photoshop, and Adobe products.
An understanding of working in a political local government/public sector environment would be welcomed. We particularly welcome candidates with experience in resident engagement or community development.
Holding a driving licence is essential, with some evening work required.
