Job summary
A leading healthcare service provider in the North East seeks an experienced Transport Manager to lead their Spennymoor team. The role involves ensuring operational compliance, managing performance, and supporting recruitment within a dynamic transport environment. Candidates should have strong transport compliance experience and excellent people management skills. This is a full-time position with working hours Monday to Friday from 7am to 5pm.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years experience in a similar transport management role.
- Strong understanding of Transportation Compliance.
- Experience building relations with drivers.
Responsibilities
- Ensure operational transport compliance.
- Handle performance management and absence management.
- Support recruitment and development of transport employees.

Sharpsmart Transport Team is at the very centre of our business providing an essential service to our Healthcare Customers. We are now expanding our team in Spennymoor and have an opportunity for an experienced Transport Manager to join and lead this growing team.
- Operational transport compliance
- Scheduling analysis and planning and out of hours responses
- Incident investigation and assist in the disciplinary processes, accident and incident investigations, driver training and auditing
- Performance management, absence management, KPI setting and 121s and Interviewing
- Support will be given to the National Transport Manager on vehicle and supplier procurement and supply
- Liaison with internal department and external third parties
- Submit Transport updates and reports to Senior Management Team

- Health and safety
- CPC Qualification / ADR Knowledge
- Minimum 2 years experience in a similar transport management role with strong understanding of Transport Compliance
- Experience of vehicle routing and excellent geographical knowledge for the North East region
- Experience of building relations and working with drivers on a daily basis
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise
- People Management including hiring, performance management, absence management and disciplinary actions
- Excellent PC skills including Microsoft packages with intermediate Excel skills
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Working hours Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm
