A major telecommunications company is seeking an experienced operations manager to lead the transformation and closure of legacy networks. This role involves managing a team of 80 individuals, ensuring stakeholder engagement, and supporting customers during migration processes. The ideal candidate will drive innovative approaches to network management and is expected to participate in cross-unit transformation activities. The position offers a hybrid working model with a requirement to be in the office three days a week.
This is a high profile role accountable for managing the compaction and closure of our main legacy networks - PSTN, SDH/PDH, DPCN, X.25 and a number of smaller platforms, in line with agreed business timescales. The transformation and closure across these platforms is essential to BT goals and the programme is regularly reviewed by the Group SLT. You will lead a team of 80 people driving innovative technical and people approaches to closure. You will deliver the closure plan of record, manage issues, mitigate risks, and ensure benefits are realised. You will manage stakeholders at all levels across Networks, CFUs, Digital and Openreach. The role holder has operational accountability for the running of the platforms, working with the operations team and problem management team to ensure the correct levels of support, managed risk and SLAs are in place to provide customers with expected service levels during the migration and closure process. As part of the Connectivity Leadership Team and Fixed Network SMT you will be expected to take an active part in cross-unit transformation activities, taking a lead where appropriate, and interworking with other units to achieve common goals. This role can be based in London, Manchester, Bristol or Birmingham and our hybrid working model means you are expected to be in the office 3 days per week.
