About the role
As a Post Production Engineer, you will provide second and third-line support across Disney’s EMEA post production facilities, maintaining high standards of service for video editing, 2D/3D graphics, and audio mixing systems. Your role includes managing hardware and software installations, server and desktop administration, preventative maintenance, and documentation of technical issues and resolutions. You’ll collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure systems are secure, up-to-date, and aligned with Disney’s technical and security standards. With a strong foundation in systems administration, networking, storage, and cloud technologies, you will serve as a technical escalation point for post production workflows, performing system and infrasutrcure upgrades. This position requires clear communication, a collaborative mindset, and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a dynamic broadcast environment.
What will you do
•Provide both second and third-line support for the hardware and software portfolio across the EMEA regional post production facilities. Includes server and desktop administration duties supporting the workflows for video edit, 2D/3D graphics and audio mixing; diagnose and resolve issues swiftly across all areas of the post production infrastructure.
•Effectively document problems and their resolutions using the in-house ticketing and sharepoint system.
•Work with the line Manager to plan upgrades for all Post Production systems, advising on systems enhancements and workflow development as required.
•Manage & perform software/hardware upgrades and new installations; liaising with vendors as necessary.
•Work with the Principal Engineer and wider Disney teams to ensure server and desktop systems/ infrastructure comply with Disney security requirements.
•Work with key manufacturers and support vendors to achieve an appropriate level of service for the Disney lines of business.
•Follow the agreed change control process for all planned technology changes making sure that all work is documented and any changes updated on the relevant technical and project documentation.
•Undertake preventative maintenance/patching/upgrades to ensure maximum system availability whilst managing and documenting the maintenance cycle.
•Manage the spares inventory and ensure stocks of spares are current and accessible.
•Act as a centre of excellence for all internal clients across varying lines of business (LOB) giving advice on technical post production workflows and problem resolution.
•Build a good working relationship with the LOB and Disney service provider staff so that any issues are identified at an early stage and dealt with swiftly.
•Effectively communicate with stakeholders.
•Keep abreast of all key broadcast industry technical standards and health and safety policies and work with the Principal Engineer to see these are incorporated into Disney specifications where appropriate.
•Maintain Disney technology to the best possible standards and support the business with the highest level of commitment and professionalism.
Experience and Professional Qualifications
Essential for Role:
• Educated to degree level in Electronic/Media Engineering/Computer Science/IT or related field, covering the areas below:
o Systems admin
o Linux/MacOS/Windows
o Kernel patching
o Scripting (Bash)
o RAID, NAS Storage
o IP Networking
o AWS Cloud Technology
o Virtualization
o CPU/GPU hardware
• Alternatively educated to a higher education standard, such as the International Baccalaureate, with greater than 3 years demonstrable track record in systems admin or broadcast post production support.
• Be technically competent across a wide range of broadcast and IT technology related areas.
• The post holder should have ideally been working in the TV or related industry for at least 3 years with a major broadcaster/vendor or post production facility in a technical engineering support role.
Desirable
• Degree or equivalent in a technology focused subject
• Microsoft/AWS/Linux/CISCO professional certifications.
