Job summary
A specialist educational institution in Effingham seeks a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support autistic students aged 11-16 with learning and behavioral challenges. The role involves teaching and supporting students, assessing their progress, and planning activities in collaboration with the Class Teacher. Ideal candidates will have HLTA experience, with a preference for those with SEN background. The position offers a salary of £27,713 - £30,250, plus a £2000 welcome bonus for relevant candidates.

Hours: 40 hours per week Term Time Only - Start time 8:15am - Finish time Monday / Tuesday / Wednesday 4:45pm; Thursday 5:00pm; Friday 4:00pm
We are currently seeking an experienced HLTA to join a specialist school supporting autistic students aged between 11-16, who have associated behavioural and communication difficulties.
- Support the Class Teacher with all elements of day-to-day running of the class(es) and teach whole classes, groups and individual lessons in consultation with the Class Teacher.
- Take the lead in the absence of a Class Teacher.
- Assess, record and report on development, progress and attainment.
- Know and understand the Class Teacher’s curriculum planning and plan, prepare and deliver assigned programmes of teaching and learning activities to individuals, small groups and/or classes; modify and adapt activities as necessary within agreed supervision.
- Where necessary, support with care needs from time to time.
- Experience as a HLTA, with SEN experience preferred.
