Job Title: HLTA - Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Location: Effingham, Surrey

Salary: £27,713 - £30,250 dependent on qualifications Plus £2000 Welcome bonus for HLTA with SEN experience

Hours: 40 hours per week Term Time Only - Start time 8:15am - Finish time Monday / Tuesday / Wednesday 4:45pm; Thursday 5:00pm; Friday 4:00pm

We are currently seeking an experienced HLTA to join a specialist school supporting autistic students aged between 11-16, who have associated behavioural and communication difficulties.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Support the Class Teacher with all elements of day-to-day running of the class(es) and teach whole classes, groups and individual lessons in consultation with the Class Teacher.
  • Take the lead in the absence of a Class Teacher.
  • Assess, record and report on development, progress and attainment.
  • Know and understand the Class Teacher’s curriculum planning and plan, prepare and deliver assigned programmes of teaching and learning activities to individuals, small groups and/or classes; modify and adapt activities as necessary within agreed supervision.
  • Where necessary, support with care needs from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience as a HLTA, with SEN experience preferred.
