Overall purpose of the job:

Reporting into the Financial Controller, you will support the Vysiion business & Finance team, by ensuring accurate financial reporting of our monthly management accounts, and providing commercial insight to the business.

Key responsibilities for this job:

Financial & Management Reporting

To ensure timely and accurate monthly accounting for, and to take ownership of, certain revenue, cost & balance sheet lines. Including the following :

  • Work closely with the Project Operations team, to understand, monitor and account for revenue and cost delivery on key customer projects
  • review key contracts, in order to determine the appropriate assessment and treatment in line with IFRS 15
  • analyse & report on the performance of key revenue contracts, and other areas of the P&L
  • completion of period end close activities in line with the Group reporting timetable
  • ensure accuracy of reported figures & reconciliation of balance sheets, with escalation of any errors or issues to management
  • preparation of commentary on key drivers and variances
  • assessment of processes and calculations applied to those areas, to assess their suitability, and propose improvements where necessary
  • provide support and partnering to various areas of the business, to enable them to understand the financial performance of their areas, and recommend improvements to improve profitability
  • Become an 'expert' in key areas of the P&L and balance sheet, in order to complete analysis and provide insight to Finance management and the wider business
  • confidently present to management, to communicate key cost & revenue drivers clearly and concisely
Accounting Policies, Processes & Controls
  • To follow appropriate accounting policies & processes, aligned to business needs & compliant with IFRS / FRS101
  • To support the Financial Controller in ensuring there is an internal control framework in place, regularly monitored, to provide assurances over the quality of reporting and ensure reporting is free from any material error, and making recommendations for improvement where appropriate
  • To create & maintain Balance Sheet Reconciliation schedules for review with the Financial Controller
Audit & Stat Accounts
  • To assist with planning the audit in conjunction with the auditors, to ensure that we are clear on deliverables and a clean, efficient audit can be achieved
  • To provide support to the Finance team during the annual financial audit
VAT & Tax
  • To ensure vat reporting is submitted accurately and on time to HMRC, with a clear workings file, to show key controls performed, liaising with advisors where necessary to ensure our processes are compliant with applicable legislation.
  • Ensure payments are made on time to HMRC
  • To prepare and deliver any other required submissions to HMRC (e.g. Imports/Exports, EC Sales List, PSA, P11d)
Other
  • To maintain close contact with the Financial Controller
  • Ad hoc tasks, analysis and reports to support the business, as required
Knowledge and experience required:
  • Part qualified/finalist or qualified accountant in a relevant qualification, such as ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent
  • Experience in IT / Technology industry, or other project & service business beneficial but not essential
  • Possess knowledge of the relevant accounting standards - in particular IFRS 15
  • Proficiency in basic accounting concepts, such as prepayments, accruals, double-entry etc
  • Ability to report and communicate finance concepts to non-finance staff
  • High levels of numeracy and demonstrates diligence and accuracy in their work
  • Ability to work independently, self-motivate, organize & adhere to deadlines in a fast-growing business
  • Competency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Outlook & Word
  • Experience of Access Dimensions, Focal Point and/or AutoTask is beneficial
