The Leisure Duty Manager position is a key role within the company, involving ongoing customer liaison, teaching, lifeguarding, and customer service. It offers a rewarding experience and serves as a stepping stone to a career in leisure management within a dynamic and growing company.
Primary objectives:
- Ensure the highest standards of health and safety and customer care within the centre.
- Support the development and delivery of the swim programme in Welsh, ensuring all services and promotional materials comply with Welsh Language legislation.
- Deliver the learn-to-swim programme and assist with lifeguarding as required by the Swim Manager.
- Assist in developing and promoting innovative pool programmes to increase usage and profitability.
- Take shift management responsibility to maximize centre performance and maintain high customer care standards.
- Collaborate closely with the Duty Activity Manager and Swim Manager to gain experience and knowledge.
The Leisure Duty Manager will focus on the following daily tasks:
- Maintain a clean, high-quality facility with engaging leisure programmes.
- Act as part of the Centre Duty Management Team on a shift rota, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
- Assist in delivering the learn-to-swim programme and lifeguarding duties.
- Support teaching and coaching courses, maintaining a register of qualified staff.
- Report on performance metrics, statistics, and KPIs for contract monitoring.
- Ensure sufficient staffing for safe and effective pool operations.
- Serve as a key holder responsible for opening and closing the pool.
- Undertake any necessary regulatory requirements.
The Candidate
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills
- Recognised qualification in Leisure Management, Sports Development, or related field is desirable.
- Welsh language skills are desirable.
- Experience in the leisure industry within small to medium-sized enterprises is preferred.
- First Aid at Work and National Pool Lifeguard Qualifications are desirable; training will be provided if not held.
- A Level 2 teaching qualification is desirable; training will be provided if not held.
- Recognised Pool Plant Operators qualification is desirable or must be obtained within a set timeframe.

DBS Check
