Job description

We’re on the lookout for a passionate and proactive People & Culture Advisor to join our team and help shape a workplace where everyone can thrive. Based in a fast-paced, people-first environment, you’ll be a trusted Advisor to our leaders and colleagues—supporting day-to-day people matters and helping to bring our “Great Place to Be” culture to life.

What’s in it for you?

  • Salary £32,000 per year
  • Hybrid working (3 days per week in the Darlington office)
  • Generous discounts: Up to 80% off our stunning kitchen furniture and products.
  • Flexible holidays: Buy up to five extra days with our holiday purchase scheme.
  • Health and wellbeing support: Access our virtual GP service and employee assistance platform 24/7.
  • Lifestyle perks: Cycle to work scheme and discounts with over 200 top brands through our benefits app.
  • Refer a friend scheme
  • A vibrant workplace: Be part of a team driven by innovation, collaboration, and shared success.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be right at the heart of our People & Culture team, making a real difference every day. Your role will involve:

  • Partnering with leaders to provide hands-on support and guidance on people matters—from performance and capability to wellbeing and engagement.
  • Managing employee relations casework with confidence and care, including investigations, conciliations, and tribunal claims.
  • Ensuring compliance with employment law and internal policies, while keeping a pragmatic, people-first approach.
  • Creating helpful resources like manager guides, templates, and process maps to support consistent and engaging people practices.
  • Tracking and analysing casework trends to spot opportunities for improvement and reduce risk.
  • Supporting policy updates and helping embed changes across the business.
  • Acting as a go-to expert for the People & Culture Coordinator and wider team.
  • Building strong relationships across the business to drive collaboration and trust.
  • Staying ahead of the curve with the latest in employment law and HR best practice.
  • Championing our values by promoting inclusion, wellbeing, and colleague voice in everything you do.
  • Getting involved in exciting projects that help shape the future of our people experience.

Who We're Looking For

We’re looking for someone who’s confident, collaborative, and ready to make an impact. You’ll thrive in this role if you have:

  • CIPD qualification (or working towards it) or relevant HR experience.
  • A strong track record in handling employee relations cases.
  • Great communication skills and the ability to build rapport at all levels.
  • A commercial mindset and a knack for finding practical solutions.
  • A proactive, flexible approach and the ability to juggle priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • A passion for improving the colleague experience and challenging the status quo.
  • A team-player attitude and a drive to make things better—for our people and our business.

You’ll be successful in this role by living and breathing our core values — Care, Deliver, Inspire.

Caring – Building strong relationships, fostering collaboration, and supporting the growth of others while continuously developing yourself.

Inspiring – Communicating with impact, leading with purpose, and helping to bring our strategy to life by engaging and enabling those around you.

Delivering – Making sound decisions, using data and insight to drive action, and staying focused on results with a mindset of continuous improvement.
