Job summary
A leading recruitment agency is looking for an Accounts Payable Officer to join a team in Liverpool. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing payments, ensuring compliance with VAT and CIS regulations, and maintaining vendor relationships. Candidates should have experience in accounts payable, effective communication skills, and the ability to use financial software like SAP. This position offers a competitive pay rate of £17.00 per hour for a contract duration of over 15 months.
Qualifications

- Ability to analyze data from IT systems.
- Understanding of HMRC VAT, IR35, and CIS regulations.

- Process payments like invoices, credits, and staff expenses on time using SAP.
- Ensure correct VAT and CIS deductions are applied.
- Use software to prevent and correct duplicate payments.
- Prepare and check documents before processing.
- Maintain good relationships with vendors and resolve discrepancies quickly.
- Collaborate with colleagues to chase approvals and receipt notes.
- Promote best practices in financial regulations and educate colleagues on P2P processes.
- Handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Investigate and resolve queries using established procedures.
- Maintain electronic systems and produce reports as needed.
- Perform administrative duties like handling calls and mail.
- Manage council resources responsibly and follow statutory requirements.
- Contribute to the Council Plan and promote excellent customer service.
- Commit to equal opportunities and follow health and safety regulations.
- Experience in accounts payable or similar financial role.
- Data entry experience in a financial environment.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Good numeracy and organizational skills.
- Ability to use MS Office and analyze data from IT systems.
- Teamwork skills and a methodical approach to tasks.
- Understanding of HMRC VAT, IR35, and CIS regulations.
- Ability to build relationships with customers and suppliers.
- Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) or similar qualification.
- Knowledge of anti-fraud practices.
- Understanding of CIS and IR35 regulations.
- Ability to identify and suggest improvements to processes.
- Commitment to the Vision and Values of Liverpool Town Council.
