Location: Cunard Building, Water Street, Pier Head, Liverpool, L2 2BS

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Duration: 15+ months

Working Hours: Mon - Fri, 09:00 - 17:00, 37 Hours per week

Pay Rate: £17.00 per hour

Job Responsibilities
  • Process payments like invoices, credits, and staff expenses on time using SAP.
  • Ensure correct VAT and CIS deductions are applied.
  • Use software to prevent and correct duplicate payments.
  • Prepare and check documents before processing.
  • Maintain good relationships with vendors and resolve discrepancies quickly.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to chase approvals and receipt notes.
  • Promote best practices in financial regulations and educate colleagues on P2P processes.
  • Handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Investigate and resolve queries using established procedures.
  • Maintain electronic systems and produce reports as needed.
  • Perform administrative duties like handling calls and mail.
  • Manage council resources responsibly and follow statutory requirements.
  • Contribute to the Council Plan and promote excellent customer service.
  • Commit to equal opportunities and follow health and safety regulations.
Person Specifications
Must Have
  • Experience in accounts payable or similar financial role.
  • Data entry experience in a financial environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Good numeracy and organizational skills.
  • Ability to use MS Office and analyze data from IT systems.
  • Teamwork skills and a methodical approach to tasks.
  • Understanding of HMRC VAT, IR35, and CIS regulations.
  • Ability to build relationships with customers and suppliers.
Nice to Have
  • Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) or similar qualification.
  • Knowledge of anti-fraud practices.
  • Understanding of CIS and IR35 regulations.
