Join us as a Duty Compliance Accountant and take on a role where finance meets operations. Based in Manchester, you’ll be at the heart of ensuring our UK customs and excise liabilities are reported accurately and our business stays fully compliant with HMRC. It’s a high-profile position with exposure to GBP 400m+ in monthly duty liabilities, giving you the chance to make a real impact. • Responsibility for the review, consolidation and preparation of monthly excise duty liability, circa GBP 400m pm
• Ensuring the accurate accounting of customs and excise duty liabilities in the general ledger in accordance with business timetable
• Forecasting of excise duty gains and losses from temperature fluctuations and vapour recovery at UK terminals - reporting to the Group Financial Controller on variances to budget
• Ensuring that Greenergy's core UK terminal activity operates within HMRC guidelines and that all stock terminals have appropriate licenses to cover operational activity
• Managing the excise duty deferment limits with UK terminals to ensure no interruption to fuel supply
• Ensuring any operational changes to the business are understood from a tax perspective, communicated and appropriate actions taken to ensure accurate reporting and compliance
• Building and maintaining strong working relationships with all excise duty stakeholders across the business
• Engaging with HMRC and speaking with authority on customs and excise matters with our local agents

• Any other reasonable tasks as requested.

Essential:

• Previous experience in a similar role in accounting/tax
• Bachelor's degree in finance, business or a related field
• Proficiency in MS Excel
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with various stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

• Part-qualified accountant, currently working towards CIMA/ACCA/ACA
