As a Pollution Response Coordinator working in the Waste System Operations Control Room, you will be responsible for protecting our customers from flooding and the local environment from pollution by ensuring both urgent and proactive field responses to potential issues identified on our wastewater systems. The increasing introduction of new smart tools will allow you to increase your proactive approach to your work in the future.

• Working in the Thames Waters Wastewater Control Room, which is co-located with the Clean Water Control Room, Operational Customer Centre, and our Logistics Control Centre.
• Desktop risk assessments to understand pollution risk for reported potential pollutions from both clean water sites and wastewater sites, and their associated piped and sewer networks.
• You will coordinate multiple pollution responses to ensure that pollution impact is ideally prevented, or minimised, and pollution recovery is achieved as soon as possible. Arranging urgent field responses.
• Providing notifications and updates to the Environmental Agency and Natural England.
• Accurate logging of the information received, and the decisions and actions taken.

Kemble Court, RG26AD (hybrid, with 70% time working from office)

This is a 24/7 shift pattern with a 12‑hour working day, rota to work 14 shifts in 36 days.

• Take a proactive, organised, and methodical approach to allow you to effectively manage peaks in workload that typically occur during wet weather. Be ready for the high intensity.
• Have the ability to accurately analyse information, make decisions and present conclusions in a time‑pressured situation.
• Have good communication and interpersonal skills for day‑to‑day liaison with colleagues, stakeholders, and customers.
• Be competent with IT systems, Excel, Word, and email.

• Competitive salary from £34,000 to £50,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
• Annual Leave – 26 days holiday per year, increasing to 30 with the length of service (plus bank holidays).
