Relief Assistant Social Care Co-ordinator
Hours are offered on an as and when required basis
£17.23 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance)
A shift allowance will be paid for unsocial hours worked where appropriate.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our small office team based in Kirkwall. As an Assistant Social Care Co-ordinator (ASCC) you will play a vital role in the provision of Care at Home services on Orkney Mainland and throughout the Isles. You will support our small geographically based teams to ensure the delivery of a high-quality Care at Home service to people who use our services.

You will work with individual service users, partner agencies and families to develop person-centred support packages that will ensure that the individual’s personal care and domestic support requirements are fully met, with goals clearly identified, in line with the reablement ethos. You will have active participation in quality control systems such as observing staff practice, reviewing of care packages, and auditing of files.

Alongside the Social Care Co-ordinators (SCC) the ASCC play an important role in the induction of new staff and are actively involved in the delivery of relevant in-house training.

In order to fulfil the duties required of this role you will be competent in:

  • Implementation and ongoing co-ordination of high quality support packages
  • Keeping up to date with current best practice and legislation
  • Proven organisation and communication skills
  • Adapting and working flexibly in a constantly pressured environment

Essential requirements

In order to meet the essential requirements for this post you should hold: An SVQ 3 in Social Services and Health Care or HNC in Social Care or other relevant practice qualification to allow registration with the SSSC as a Supervisor in a Care at Home Service

OR

  • A supervisory or management qualification at SCQF level 7 or above to allow registration with the SSSC as a supervisor in a Care at Home Service or achieve this qualification within 5 years appointment
  • OR Have a minimum of 3 years previous relevant experience as detailed in the experience section of the person specification in the Assistant Social Care Co-ordinator job description AND the requirement to achieve the two required qualifications within 3 years.

You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
