A full-time, permanent vacancy for a Homeless and Housing Options Caseworker has become available within our housing solutions team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting and delivering a high standard housing options and homeless service to persons who have a housing problem or who are homeless or threatened with homelessness. Delivering front-line housing options advice, advocacy, and referral services, you will manage a housing options and homeless caseload and be responsible for the delivery of housing options and ensuring that homeless applications are comprehensively assessed in line with legislation, guidance, and within performance timescales.

You will liaise with a range of agencies to ensure that support, advice, and practical assistance are provided to all service users to enable them to prevent or resolve homelessness and maintain secure accommodation.

You should have relevant housing or other front-line public service experience, as well as experience in interviewing and working with vulnerable individuals with challenging issues.

You will have excellent communication skills, should be customer-focused, team-oriented, and have the ability to work under pressure.

A working knowledge of homelessness legislation is required, and an understanding of the issues around homelessness should be demonstrated.

This post is considered a Regulated Role with Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020, and as such, membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.

Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
