Job summary
A leading research institution in France is seeking a Researcher to develop in vivo imaging techniques and conduct experiments to explore motor cortex functions. Candidates should have a strong background in biophotonics, neuroscience, and programming for data analysis, as well as regulatory training in animal experimentation. This full-time position is under a temporary contract expected to start in April 2026.
Qualifications
- Regulatory training in animal experimentation and specialisation in surgery.
- In-depth knowledge of biophotonics, neuroscience, animal behaviour, optogenetics, and implant surgery.
- Extensive knowledge of immunohistochemistry.

Development of 1P and 2P miniscope imaging in vivo and implementation and conduct of miniscope experiments in animals to understand the role of the motor cortex and its subcortical motor partners (STN, basal ganglia, spinal cord, etc.) in motor planning.
- Development of the 1P and 2P miniscope technique within the team, including technical assembly of the miniscope (selection of the best equipment, technical and scientific monitoring, documentation, training of other users, etc.) and implementation of procedures for surgery, implantation, viral infection, imaging and analysis.
- Stereotaxy and implantation and viral infection surgery.
- Handling, habituation and daily monitoring of animals in animal experiments, in accordance with ethical regulations.
- Implementation of miniscope experiments on awake, behaving animals.
- Strict monitoring of limit points and euthanasia of animals if necessary.
- Daily monitoring of data collection and storage by all necessary means (laboratory notebook, external hard drive, server).
- Development of scripts for mathematical analysis and modelling of data.
- Monitoring and maintenance of the team's equipment.
- Training and supervision of PhD and Master’s students if necessary.
Created on 1 January 2011, the Interdisciplinary Institute for Neuroscience (IINS) is a joint research unit affiliated with the CNRS and the University of Bordeaux. With 170 staff members divided into 12 teams, IINS combines multidisciplinary expertise to study the molecular and cellular mechanisms involved in brain activity. The Institute develops innovative methods in imaging, chemistry, physiology and computer science. As part of Bordeaux Neurocampus, IINS is one of the major players in the neuroscience community in Aquitaine.
- Regulatory training in animal experimentation (design and application) and specialisation in surgery.
