Job Description

Reports To: Restaurant Managers, Food & Beverage Director

General Purpose: The Restaurant Server is an engaging and enthusiastic ambassador for the restaurant, intuiting the guest's appetites through verbal and non-verbal cues, making recommendations, and selling any item on the menu to even the most reluctant palate. The Server works accurately, efficiently, and prioritizes tasks to exceed guest expectations.

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Reports to work on time and ready for scheduled shifts.
  2. Follows all steps of service.
  3. Knows descriptions and ingredients of all menu items.
  4. Knows all wines by the glass and at least five wines in each category on the wine list, with varying price ranges and styles.
  5. Knows drink names, ingredients, preparation methods, appropriate glassware, and garnishes.
  6. Knows specialty beverages, such as single malt scotches, cognacs, specialty drinks, and beers.
  7. Sells menu items to increase overall sales.
  8. Serves beverages and food cheerfully and efficiently.
  9. Ensures the service station is properly stocked.
  10. Completes all posted side work.
  11. Maintains a positive, friendly attitude with co-workers and guests.
  12. Provides prompt and accurate reports of all income received during the shift.
  13. Maintains a clean and orderly appearance in the restaurant service area.
  14. Assists with or executes tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
  15. Follows all proper sanitation guidelines.

Qualifications:

  1. Able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
  2. Responsible, dependable, and punctual.
  3. Basic math skills.
  4. Strong communication skills; must be able to speak, read, and understand English.
  5. Clean and professional appearance.
  6. Demonstrates enthusiasm for all things 21c.
  7. Familiarity with and ability to use POS systems.
  8. Must pass a background check.

Education/Formal Training:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  2. Experience in an upscale dining environment preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Must be able to carry a full-service tray comfortably.
  2. Must be able to stand and walk for long periods.
  3. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
