Job Description:

NVIT anticipates the requirement for one full-time, ongoing faculty member in the Environmental Resources Technology (ENRT) Department at the Merritt campus. This faculty position will commence in May of 2025, or as soon as a suitable candidate is found.

Job Summary:

The Lab Instructor will support the ENRT Department by assisting other faculty with organizing field trips, labs, and in-class activities, and by preparing, maintaining, and organizing lab spaces as required for first and second-year courses. As part of their duties, this person will also be required to instruct various courses, including: Introduction to Geographic Information Systems, Technical Writing, and Technical Mathematics. The Lab Instructor will provide support to the Dean overseeing the ENRT Program and to the ENRT Department Chair. They will be required to complete additional duties as requested and will be expected to contribute to the overall health and safety of the program for students and faculty.

Requirements/Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in a related field (e.g., Forestry, Fish and Wildlife, Environmental Science);
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license and willing to provide driver’s abstract;
• Relevant work experience and teaching experience with Indigenous adult learners;
• Knowledge of First Nations culture and experience working in an Indigenous environment is an asset;
• Practice from a holistic, culturally safe, and trauma-informed lens;
• Knowledge of accrediting bodies;
• A demonstrated commitment to quality service to students and the public;
• Proven ability to build collaborative working relationships to achieve outcomes in the best interest of students and NVIT;
