Position Details:

  1. Number of Positions Available: 1
  2. Position Type: Full-Time
  3. Position Duration: Permanent
  4. Staff Accommodation: No
  5. Wage Range: $32.02 - $35.77 Hourly

Job Overview:
Work performed under the direction of the Licensing and Enforcement Manager includes:

  1. Ensures enforcement of the Bylaws of the Municipality of Jasper.
  2. Accomplishes, wherever possible, voluntary compliance with Bylaws.
  3. Enforces Bylaws by issuing violation tickets, traffic tags, serving summonses and subpoenas, and through the preparation of related legal documents.
  4. Investigates Bylaw to prepare for court proceedings.
  5. Responds to public complaints and inquiries about Bylaw infractions and tickets.
  6. Follows up on tickets to ensure collection, including court preparation and attendance for violation tickets issued.
  7. Conducts foot, vehicle and other patrols as required.
  8. Impounds and ensures the safety and well-being of loose, dangerous or abandoned domestic animals in the Town of Jasper and operates the domestic animal control compound.
  9. Cooperates with the Parks Canada Warden Service on matters of domestic-wildlife encounters within the Town.
  10. Maintains records of infractions and licenses as required.
  11. Acquires and maintains an understanding of the context and functioning of local government in Jasper, including the Municipality of Jasper’s relationship with Jasper National Park and the Parks Canada Agency.
  12. Works effectively with, and maintains positive relationships with, other staff members and departments of the Municipality of Jasper.
  13. Becomes familiar with and carries out duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Health & Safety Manual approved by the Municipality along with Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
  14. Participates in the proper operation of the Municipal vehicle impound and storage facility.
  15. Undertakes other operational and public safety duties as required.

Position Requirements:
English Fluency Level required for position: Advanced
Job Requirements Qualifications & experience:

  1. Grade 12 Diploma;
  2. Training in law enforcement or a combination of education and experience satisfactory to the employer;
  3. A valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License;
  4. A current Standard First Aid Certificate;
  5. Previous experience in law enforcement or a related field;
  6. Ability to successfully complete the Physical Attributes Test for Uniformed Officers (PARE) test;
  7. Ability to obtain Community Peace Officer Level 1 status.
