BIOL 1010 (Principles of Biology I, Fall term) includes eight weeks of laboratory sessions for all students. The successful applicant will supervise four two-hour lab sessions each week and attend a weekly one hour TA meeting for each of those weeks. Each lab session consists of three lab rooms of up to 30 students per room, with each room staffed by a Teaching Assistant. The supervising instructor circulates between the three lab rooms, providing guidance to the students and Teaching Assistants with the goal of helping students build their understanding and enjoyment of Biology while working through the laboratory activities safely and efficiently. In addition, the successful applicant will assist the course team with other aspects of the laboratory component of BIOL 1010, which could include answering some student e-mails and, in cases of unexpected absence of lab instructors, additional lab supervision as required. The position reports to the Chair of the Department.
