CAD 30,000 - 60,000
Job description

Why BCAA?

Feel proud of what you do and help shape the future of BC at a BC Top Employer. We’re driven by purpose – delivering peace of mind to one in three BC households with insurance, roadside assistance, auto repair, Evo Car Share and Evolve E-Bike Share. With a long history of keeping roads safe and giving back in ways that build stronger communities, we offer a wide variety of meaningful, rewarding careers that move BC forward.

We are currently hiring a Child Passenger Safety (CPS) Program Educator/Instructor to join our CPS team. This is a part-time contract position for one year (25 hrs/month) with potential to extend the contract.

Reporting to the Associate Manager, Community Impact, the Child Passenger Safety (CPS) Program Educator/Instructor provides child car seat education, resources and instruction to families, caregivers and community professionals to help ensure children are safe when travelling on BC roads. This position involves working approximately 25 hours per month with the possibility of taking on more hours. Come join our Community Impact team and support BCAA’s commitment to provide programs that build stronger communities, keep our roads safe and give back in ways that improve the lives of British Columbians.

What moves you

  • You’re patient, kind, and love to teach. Making a difference in BC communities and keeping kids safe makes your day!
  • You’re a problem solver who loves a challenge. Organized yet flexible, you thrive in a role where no two days are the same.
  • You’re an exceptional communicator and facilitator, adept at engaging both individuals one-on-one and presenting to groups of all sizes with clarity and confidence.
  • You’re skilled at building strong connections and establishing quick rapport with parents, caregivers, kids and community professionals.
  • You have a passion for learning and seek opportunities to expand your knowledge.
  • You have sharp attention to detail and take pride in delivering high-quality work.
  • You take initiative and you’re ready to step up whenever needed.
  • You’re a collaborative team player who enjoys helping others, contributing to your community and being part of a small, but mighty CPS team.
  • You’re equally comfortable working independently and keeping self-motivated.
  • Having flexible work hours and setting your own schedule is ideal for you.
  • Remote work is for you with a dedicated workspace in your home.

What you’ll do

  • Provide education and instruction on child passenger safety to parents, caregivers and community professionals by coordinating and facilitating information sessions, hands-on workshops and CPS Educator training courses.
  • Complete training to become a BCAA Child Passenger Safety Educator and Instructor with an option to complete Safe Travel for All Children: Transporting Children with Special Health Care Needs training.
  • Mentor and support CPS Educators province wide.
  • Review and update program materials.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to execute and support existing strategies and new initiatives.
  • Participate in strategic planning discussions related to the program.
  • Administer CPS phone line, email enquiry account, mail-outs, CPS Educator activity reports and database.
  • Other general day-to-day functions and assistance related to Community Impact initiatives.
  • Travel to communities within the Greater Vancouver area and within BC.
  • Receive a competitive Hourly Rate of $27-31/hr!

What you bring

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • BCAA Child Passenger Safety Educator II Certificate or willingness to complete.
  • At least 5 years of experience in community education.
  • Proven experience in adult education.
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse groups.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • A valid British Columbia driver’s license and the ability to travel throughout the province as required.
  • Bonus Skills and Experience:
  • Other credentials/training related to teaching, facilitating, etc.
  • Experience in facilitating child car seat safety educational sessions and training.
  • Knowledge in child car seat products.
  • Comfortable facilitating education and instruction in a different language.

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to complete background checks, which may include criminal, credit, credential and reference checks for employment with BCAA.

As an independent contractor, the successful candidate will be required to obtain their own GST number (if applicable) and Worker's Compensation (WCB) coverage prior to their first day of work.

What we offer:

  • The chance to make a difference every day in the lives of British Columbians, BCAA Members and our communities.
  • Career and personal development to help you grow and reach your goals.
  • Incentives that recognize team and individual sales and performance.
  • Flexible benefits to support your health and lifestyle, and wellness dollars* to keep your body, mind and soul thriving.
  • A competitive rewards package including salary performance bonus programs, pension plan*, and more to help build your personal wealth.
  • Paid time off including vacation, and days for wellness, volunteering, and cultural, spiritual or religious connection.
  • BCAA membership, with valuable perks and Member savings on every day and special spending, from gas and coffee to clothes, sports and event tickets, and hotels.
  • Meaningful, rewarding work for a BC Top Employer known for putting people first and constantly building a better workplace for all our team members.
