Position Summary

Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication to delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at Fort St. John Hospital and Health Centre.

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, the Registered Nurse practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), within a patient- and family-centered care model.

The Registered Nurse - Perinatal, working collaboratively with the inter-professional team, plans and provides direct patient care to obstetrical patients during the intra-, postpartum, and high-risk antepartum periods, as well as other assigned patients. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, providing, and evaluating nursing care. The RN demonstrates a specialized body of knowledge and bases practice on nursing science and related content from other sciences and humanities.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days, Nights - 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00, Rotating

Fort St. John Hospital and Health Centre has 44 Acute Care beds and 124 residential beds, equipped to handle 22,000 ER visits per year. Highlights include:

• Endoscopy suite, 2 state-of-the-art operating rooms, plus a procedure room
• Ambulatory clinics including Cancer and Hemodialysis
• Medical and Surgical inpatient rooms (40 beds)
• 3 Intensive care units
• Minor surgeries
• 7 single Maternity rooms for Labour, Delivery, and Post-Partum

Fort St. John also has a Health Unit and Primary Care Clinic serving the community.

Qualifications:

• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current registration with BCCNM
• Completion of a recognized Perinatal Nursing specialty program
• One (1) year recent related experience or equivalent education, training, and experience
• Current CPR and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certificates
• Current Fetal Health Surveillance Course Certificate

Skills and Abilities:

• Clinical proficiency in the designated area
• Ability to recognize acuity changes
• Competence in patient assessment, maternal/fetal/newborn care, communication, education, organization, teamwork, evidence-based practice, equipment operation, and physical ability to perform duties
