Job summary
A leading company in the technology sector seeks a z-platform computing specialist to oversee system design and maintenance. Ideal candidates will have extensive experience in zOS internals and catalog management, with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously. This role offers the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge technologies within a collaborative team environment.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of zOS internals and autonomously manage environments.
- Excellent troubleshooting, testing, and Catalog management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and in production outages.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain the operating environment for z-platform computing.
- Provide support for software installations and outages as needed.
Skills
Education
• Expert in zOS internals
• Self-motivated/able to work autonomously
• Strong Catalog management Knowledge and experience
• Excellent trouble shooting skills
• Able to work in a stressed situation like production system outage
• Strong USS/OMVS skills
• Experience with z/OS and ISV software installations
• Excellent Testing skills (design tests to validate software functionality, robustness, performance)
• HCD/Hardware knowledge
• REXX experience
• Weekend support and on-call rotation
• zOSMF, rest APIs, Kafka, LinuxOne, ansibles, python and other new zos technologies is a plus
• Assembler skills for usermods maintenance and dump reading are desirable but not mandatory
• Self-motivated individual and a team player
• Outstanding researcher/investigator with outside the box line of thought
• Good verbal and written English communications skills
• At least 10 years of relevant experience
