CHIL Interior Design is currently seeking a CAD Technician Lead to join our dynamic and collaborative CHIL Vancouver team. As a CAD Technician Lead , you will work closely with our leaders, project team, and the design team. This position involves overseeing CAD workflows, ensuring the accuracy and quality of technical drawings, and providing guidance and training to team members. The ideal candidate is keen to be an active participant in mentorship and take part in the continual growth and development of themselves and team members.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed AutoCAD drawings for hospitality and multi-family residential interior design projects, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and detailed design elements to include millwork and furniture drawings.
- Assist with the preparation of Tender and Construction drawing packages.
- Work with interior designers to interpret design concepts and specifications into technical drawings.
- Ensure all drawings meet project requirements, building codes, and industry standards.
- Revise and update drawings based on client feedback, site conditions, or project changes.
- Coordinate with project managers and other team members to ensure design accuracy and timely project delivery.
- Coordinate interior design documents with architectural and consultant drawings as needed.
- Resolve designers’ technical issues on CAD drawings & templates.
- Responsible for drawing consistency to meet industry documentation standards within CHIL.
- Coordinate and work with design team members.
- Work with Senior Lead to maintain company drawing templates & CAD detail library and associated updates.
- Provide oversight on drawing reviews to ensure designers are following company templates and systems.
- Train new team members on CAD tools, software, and internal procedures.
- Ensure that all team members are proficient in the latest CAD software and design techniques.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date project documentation and drawing files.
- Review and troubleshoot technical issues in drawings, resolving any discrepancies or errors.
- Maintain a strong understanding of construction techniques.
- Mentor employees on CAD tools.
Required Skills and Experience
- A degree or diploma in architecture, interior design, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in similar roles.
- Previous experience as a CAD Technician in an interior design firm.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of Revit is an asset but not required.
- Working knowledge of local building codes is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of computer programming and interior design principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Strong time management and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
