Job Description

Salary Range: $63.75 - $73.33

Reporting to the Director of Perioperative Services, you will develop and provide assessment strategies within a holistic nursing framework for surgical patients. The Nurse Practitioner will focus on perioperative care for orthopedic patients within the bundled care model. You will collaborate with physicians to interpret diagnostic tests, guide care, and engage a multidisciplinary team to resolve issues and coordinate care with community partners. Monitoring and evaluating outcomes, applying critical thinking, and developing best practice guidelines are essential parts of this role. You will also educate patients pre- and post-operatively, as well as nurses and other healthcare professionals involved in patient care.

The physical demands may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling. Ensuring a safe environment for all is a key responsibility.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Masters of Nursing with a Primary Care or Adult Nurse Practitioner Certificate and current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • 3–5 years of current Surgical Nursing experience.
  • Advanced knowledge in assessment, management, and evaluation of perioperative treatment plans.
  • Member of RNAO with liability coverage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple demands.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice, clinical research, and change management.
  • Strong leadership skills and a passion for nursing excellence.
  • Regular attendance is required.

All staff must be vaccinated against COVID-19 with doses approved by Health Canada, subject to accommodations under human rights legislation.
