Job Summary :

Within the context of the Information Management Information Technology Services (IMITS) in the lower mainland, which provides services to Vancouver Coastal Health, Providence Health Care, and other lower mainland services (VPPL), the Junior Systems Analyst, Clinical Solutions, reports to the Manager or designate and receives work direction from the Team Lead or Senior Systems Analyst. The role involves developing and maintaining clinical application systems impacting various functional areas, utilizing knowledge of SQL, clinical information systems, EMR applications, and MS Office. The Junior Systems Analyst translates business needs into technical specifications, provides system support, troubleshoots issues, tests upgrades, and maintains documentation. The role also involves participating in the system development lifecycle, ensuring documentation completion, and escalating issues as needed.
Duties / Accountabilities :
- Determine user and department requirements through feasibility and impact studies, analyze existing systems, and recommend modifications or new systems.
- Develop specifications for clinical application systems by gathering detailed information and translating it into technical requirements; participate in developing system functionalities and standard operating procedures.
- Respond to system incidents and tickets via the service desk by implementing changes and fixes, investigating incidents, escalating unresolved issues, and performing maintenance activities according to departmental standards.
- Assist with system design and build activities, perform modifications and enhancements using tools like Visual Studio, Oracle Developer, SQL, and others; support implementation and go-live activities.
- Participate in user acceptance testing for new systems and standards.
- Maintain clinical application downtime procedures and participate in disaster exercises; support after-hours incidents and on-call shifts.
- Provide user support by troubleshooting, problem-solving, and investigating system issues, escalating as necessary.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and technical groups, develop relationships, and assist in identifying deficiencies.
- Maintain relationships with vendors and troubleshoot issues with third-party services.
- Participate in team meetings, discussions, and continuous improvement activities, providing feedback and proposing solutions.
- Stay current with IMITS procedures and policies, participate in training, and support major upgrades and implementations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Education, Training and Experience
- Graduation from a recognized diploma or degree program in Computer Science or Health Information Science, with at least one year of recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- May require travel and participation in an on-call rotation.
