Job summary
A leading technology solutions provider in Ottawa is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Technician. The role involves creating 3D models for assemblies, converting drawings to the required format, and using CAD tools to produce assemblies and BOMs. Candidates must have a technical degree and a minimum of 2 years in a similar role. Familiarity with mechanical and electrical CAD tools is preferred. Eligibility for security clearance and registration with Controlled Goods Program is mandatory.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in similar areas.
- Knowledge of U.S. ITAR regulations.
- Eligibility for registration with the Controlled Goods Program.
Responsibilities
- Create 3D models for new assemblies.
- Convert drawings from a 3D model into the proper format with required dimensioning.
- Create new assemblies and fabricated parts using CAD tools.
- Create Bill of Material (BOM).

- Technical degree in mechanical drafting or other related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in similar areas.
- Knowledge of mechanical CAD tools (Autodesk Inventor and CREO).
- Knowledge of electrical CAD tools (Zuken) an asset.
- Must be detail‑oriented.
- Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada “Reliability” status and Level 2 (Secret) security clearance.
- Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
