Overview

Career Opportunity Role Title Business Analyst Purpose of role Reporting to the Senior Manager, Business Analysis – IT; the Business Analyst is responsible for participating in the evaluation of the impact of critical and strategic business solutions by applying industry and Foresters Financial-specific knowledge and industry best practices in product/system/process development, business process design/re-design, and systems analysis and design. The Business Analyst is also responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of the critical and strategic business solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in the evaluation of the impact of business solutions by applying industry and Foresters Financial specific knowledge and industry best practices on product/system/process development life cycle, business process design/re-design, system analysis and design and project management
  • Deliver and communicate critical business solutions in a project environment through analyzing and developing business requirements and design specifications; analyzing and developing business process designs/re-designs; contributing to test criteria definition and problem resolution; and developing training requirements
  • Provide support to Foresters Financial strategies and ongoing operations by contributing to the identification of gaps and overlaps between projects, business processes and ongoing operations; ensuring the integration and links between projects and ongoing operations; and defining product/process rules and parameters to application systems
  • Build efficient and effective relationships with external vendors of services through efficient performance of business specification development, contribution to quality assurance testing, and contribution to the management of costs associated with software changes
  • Adhere to Foresters Financial security standards and procedures during solution implementation and support
  • Report security incidents as per the Foresters Financial Information Security Incident Management Standard
Qualifications
  • Post secondary education preferred and/or 3-5 years\' experience with insurance product knowledge and systems
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of tools (e.g. LucidCharts, Copilot Studio, Azure DevOps, Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Access and Project, APL, TSO) as well as have an understanding of the technology environment (e.g. Client Server) within which the tools reside
  • Familiar with the life cycle of product, process, and system development, as well as the concepts and practices
  • Ability to assess system capabilities, impact on business processes, recommend system designs and incorporate activities into all development life cycle phases
  • Possess an understanding of Foresters Financial strategic direction, vision and goals as well as Foresters products, insurance regulations, business process design re-design methodologies, business processes and procedures and supporting application systems (functionality, integration/flow, file structures/tables etc.)
  • Strong analytical, reasoning and problem-solving abilities
  • Must be able to identify problems and recommend business solutions
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate tasks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships
  • Desire and willingness to invest in the growth of your career within the Business Analyst role

Salary Range:

$54,000.00 - $77,000.00

The actual base salary for this position will depend on several factors, including job-related skills, experience, and education. In addition to base pay, eligible employees may participate in a discretionary variable incentive plan, results are subject to both individual and company performance.
