The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment by enforcing health and safety regulations, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a strong safety culture. This role involves monitoring operations, inspecting work areas, providing training, and leading accident investigations to reduce workplace hazards and ensure legal compliance.
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of equipment, sites, and operations.
Implement and monitor HSE policies in compliance with legal and organizational requirements.
Perform risk assessments (HIRA) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for ongoing activities.
Ensure proper usage and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Organize and lead Toolbox Talks, safety briefings, and training sessions.
Investigate incidents, near-misses, and accidents; prepare incident reports and recommend corrective actions.
Monitor compliance with the Permit to Work (PTW) system and LOTO procedures.
Respond to emergency situations, coordinate evacuations and drills.
Maintain documentation related to safety, including inspection checklists, training logs, and MSDS.
Liaise with external agencies during audits, inspections, or emergencies.
Promote continuous improvement in safety performance and behavior.
Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
Certification in NEBOSH IGC / IOSH / OSHA / Industrial Safety (mandatory or preferred depending on region).
2–5 years of experience as a Safety Officer in [Construction/Manufacturing/Oil & Gas/etc.].
Knowledge of relevant laws and safety regulations (e.g., Factories Act, BOCW Act).
Strong understanding of safety practices such as LOTO, confined space, working at height, etc.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and reporting tools.
Excellent communication and observation skills.
Ability to work under pressure and handle emergencies.
