Job description
Why This Role Matters

The OHS Officer supports day-to-day safety implementation at the STP by enforcing safe work practices, monitoring compliance, conducting field inspections, and supporting permit systems, training, and incident reporting. This role is execution-focused rather than managerial. The officer follows established systems, procedures, and instructions and does not design or modify safety frameworks or policies.

What Youll Drive
  • Maintains a visible presence in operational areas during maintenance and routine activities, actively monitoring compliance with safety rules, Life Saving Rules and site procedures, and intervening immediately in unsafe situations including stopping work when required.
  • Verifies that Permit-to-Work (PTW) and Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) requirements are correctly applied before and during tasks, confirms isolation points and tagging, coordinates with supervisors, and escalates gaps promptly.
  • Conducts routine safety inspections and OHS observations in areas such as MCC rooms, pump stations, sludge handling zones, confined spaces, and chemical areas; records findings using approved formats and follows up on corrective actions.
  • Delivers toolbox talks and safety briefings, ensures attendance is recorded, and reinforces task‑specific hazards before high‑risk activities including confined space entry, lifting, electrical work, and chemical handling.
  • Monitors PPE usage and condition, verifies suitability based on task and area, and reports shortages, misuse or damage without being responsible for PPE policy development.
  • Assists in incident and near‑miss reporting, collects basic facts, photographs, and statements, and supports investigations led by the OHS Engineer.
  • Supports site inductions and on‑the‑job maintenance training sessions and ensures attendance records are completed and submitted.
  • Monitors housekeeping standards in operational areas and coordinates with supervisors to correct unsafe conditions that may lead to slips, trips, fire risks or access obstructions.
  • Maintains documentation and records including inspection checklists, PTW logs, training attendance sheets and observation trackers, and submits reports on time.
  • Raises safety concerns promptly to the OHS Engineer or O&M Manager and does not assume responsibility or resolve issues beyond assigned authority.
Qualifications
  • Has 35 years of OHS experience in STP utilities, process plants, or industrial O&M operations.
  • Demonstrates practical knowledge of Permit-to-Work (PTW), Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), confined space entry, electrical safety and chemical hazards.
  • Writes clear and concise reports and uses Excel and Word effectively.
  • Maintains physical fitness to work safely in industrial environments and shift‑based operations.
  • Communicates and delivers training in English and Hindi or Arabic.
  • Understands STP processes and operational hazards including H₂S and sewage‑related health risks.
  • Operates safely in MCC rooms and electrical maintenance environments.
  • Complies with confined space entry requirements.
  • Coordinates effectively with contractors within an operating facility.
  • Must be an Arabic speaker to support effective communication with site teams and local workforce.
