This is a consulting position in our Internal Consultancy Team, which involves engaging in short to medium-term projects to address diverse business challenges and requirements. The role centers around assisting internal clients across multiple business units within Old Mutual Limited.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong technical expertise, and will be responsible for providing support across various tasks, including data system enhancements, data analytics, process automation, software, and IT infrastructure assistance. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with clients, gaining a deep understanding of their needs, collecting relevant data, and devising practical, effective solutions to address their specific challenges.
Key Result Areas:
- Proactively seeks new knowledge in data analytics and visualization.
- Develops and enhances actuarial data generation capabilities according to business needs.
- Performs data analysis and investigations to support decision-making.
- Develops and implements automated workflows and small systems.
- Maintains accurate documentation of business processes, workflows, and systems.
- Works with large quantities of data, builds Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) pipelines, and extracts key insights from data.
- Provides ongoing support for deployed automated solutions.
- Translates business challenges into actionable analysis initiatives.
- Employs methodical and innovative approaches to solving data and data system-related challenges.
- Sets up and manages Amazon Web Service infrastructure for hosting web applications.
- Maintains and enhances internal web-based tools.
- Resolves system issues through troubleshooting.
- Ensures technical accuracy and proper implementation of work.
- Works independently, demonstrating self-reliance.
- Presents results to stakeholders.
- Documents solutions systematically and performs handovers to clients.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematical Statistics, Financial Risk Management, or Actuarial Science.
- A solid understanding of the insurance industry, its products, and actuarial valuation processes is a distinct advantage.
- Proficiency in coding and IT systems across various environments, including (additional skills will also be considered):
