Job summary
A construction company in Singapore is looking for a Floor/Wall tiler/Parquetry worker responsible for preparing and installing timber and tiles. The role requires adherence to safety procedures and ensures surfaces are properly prepared and level. Ideal candidates should have good vision and hand-eye coordination. Responsibilities include applying materials, filling gaps, and laying tiles in accordance with standards. This position involves physically demanding work indoors.
Qualifications
- Good vision and eye-hand coordination is necessary for the job.
Responsibilities
- Apply a layer of material to surfaces.
- Ensure surface levels meet design specifications.
- Fill joints and gaps with cement or plaster.
- Lay tiles and timber according to standards.
- Mix bedding materials according to instructions.
- Follow safety procedures during tasks.
- Prepare surfaces for material adhesion.
- Set out tile lines according to design specifications.
The Floor/Wall tilers/Parquetry worker prepares and install timber and tiles. He will be working indoors and will be on his/her feet all the time. He/She will need good vision and eye-hand coordination to meet the demands of the job.
- Apply a layer of material (e.g: cement) to the floor or other surfaces.
- Check that surface of substrate using a 2-m straight edge to ensure that it is level and true to design specifications.
- Fill joints and gaps with cement or plaster to ensure complete coverage of the surface.
- Lay tiles and timber according to the standard code of practice.
- Mix bedding materials according to manufacturer’s instruction.
- Perform task in accordance to organisational safety procedures.
- Prepare surface in accordance to industrial practices and manufacturer’s recommendation to ensure adhesion of the material.
- Set out tile lines according to the approved tiling setting out drawings and design specifications.
