Job description

The Floor/Wall tilers/Parquetry worker prepares and install timber and tiles. He will be working indoors and will be on his/her feet all the time. He/She will need good vision and eye-hand coordination to meet the demands of the job.

Responsibilities

• Apply a layer of material (e.g: cement) to the floor or other surfaces.
• Check that surface of substrate using a 2-m straight edge to ensure that it is level and true to design specifications.
• Fill joints and gaps with cement or plaster to ensure complete coverage of the surface.
• Lay tiles and timber according to the standard code of practice.
• Mix bedding materials according to manufacturer’s instruction.
• Perform task in accordance to organisational safety procedures.
• Prepare surface in accordance to industrial practices and manufacturer’s recommendation to ensure adhesion of the material.
• Set out tile lines according to the approved tiling setting out drawings and design specifications.
