Role Purpose:

The objective of the position is to continuously improve on the assigned product portfolio with the long-term, strategic orientation to the business unit.

• Responsible for a defined portfolio in the area of Opto Detection Sensors
• Development of business cases and product strategies in the form of roadmaps, go-to-market concepts and product marketing plans
• Initiation and coordination of measures to expand and improve the product range
• Market and competitive evaluation of product and technology
• Analysis of sales, earnings, contribution margin, market

Major Responsibilities:

Market analysis and development plans:

• Derivation of Product strategy based on market analysis
• Analysis of market, competition, customer problems to generate product ideas
• Collection of customer requirements, analysis and derivation of market trends
• Creation of requirement profiles for new products to be developed
• Return On Investment calculations for new products
• Initiation and coordination of measures to improve quality and contribution margins
• Development, planning and provision of all technical and commercial data for marketing
• Support of the sales as well as carry out internal and external product training
• Implementation and coordination of portfolio work in the international team
• Creation of a roadmap for the assigned product portfolio
• Cooperation with the regional and international sales with travel plans if need be
• Preparation of an annual business plan for the following financial year
• Provide demand figures for newly launched products to aid production and supply chain planning

Definition of development orders:

• Design and maintenance (lifecycle management) of the assigned product portfolio

In particular, the maintenance of the product portfolio (program structure, families, variants, modifications, redesign, discontinuation)

• Implementation of sustainable and resilient portfolio management making a decisive contribution to the company’s long-term growth
• Translate objectives for assigned product portfolio into business and earnings growth
• Strategic development of existing and new markets internationally
• Implementation of the long-term strategy which are aligned to that of the entire company

Launch:

• Responsibility for all product documentation such as catalogues, product information, product overviews, marketing news, etc
• Conceptualisation of product presentations, especially trade fair boards
• Product seminars for employees and customers nationally and internationally
• Development of go-to-market concepts and product marketing plans
• Planning and analysis of marketing campaigns
• Preparation of special articles and texts for press publication

Phase Out

• Preparation and execution of product discontinuation plans
• Securing and planning of succession type, as well as coordination of product changes

Requirements:

• Degree in electrical engineering, industrial engineering or a comparable course of study and/or a few years of relevant professional experience
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in the field of product management or development of products
• Very good communication, persuasion and negotiation skills
• Confident, determined and independent way of working
• Good technical knowledge combined with entrepreneurial thinking
