Dulwich College (Singapore) is seeking an Assistant Teacher (Music) to join our Junior School (equivalent to Primary‑level) in April 2026 to provide administrative/organisational support to the Music Department, coordinating the allocation and the upkeep of the extensive instrument stock and resources for the strings, wind and brass programme. Proficiency in playing piano is essential.

The role also includes supporting children in the classroom and leading small ensembles and CCA activities. The job would suit someone with excellent interpersonal skills, who is proactive and organised.

• To support in a class as decided by the Head of Junior School Music;
• To log all instruments into the school database;
• To log and oversee necessary instrumental repair works;
• To manage the issuing of instruments, books, and accessories to all students;
• To support school performances by rehearsing groups of children. This may take place after school or at lunchtime;
• To play the piano and accompany the students on the piano in assemblies and concerts. (Please note this is a desirable skill but it is not essential). Candidates without a strong keyboard or piano accompaniment background will still be considered if they possess other relevant experience and strong musical skills.
• To liaise with Finance and Procurement and complete paperwork for purchasing requirements as specified by Head of Music and Director of Music;
• To communicate improvement works, as specified by Head of Music,to the College Operations Team, if necessary;
• Managing the collection of resources from children leaving the College;
• To take a leading role in the management of music events in the Junior School, including the setting up of equipment and liaising with the admin team;
• To work with the Director of Music, Heads of Music in all Schools, and the Marketing team to create content for social media and displays;
• To support the class teachers in the learning of each child;
• To work alongside the class teachers to create an environment in which the children’s learning flourishes;
• To be responsible, with the class teachers, for the pastoral care of the children in their class and to be involved in the pastoral care of all children in the College;
• To take part in the planning and preparation for learning both inside and outside the classroom as led by the class teachers;
• To take responsibility for the management of classroom resources, the replenishment of materials, setting up of the classroom, creating displays and ensuring the safety of the teaching environment;
• To be aware of, and take part in, the school’s performance management framework and participate in training and development activities as required;
• To facilitate the learning of individual children or a small group of children, guided by, and in consultation with, the class teachers;
• To manage behaviour positively, as agreed and set out in the school policy;
• To attend staff meetings and professional development activities as required;
• To participate in the extra‑curricular life of the children by leading, organising, or being involved in extra‑curricular activities and concerts within the Junior School – this may include some weekend and after school work;
• To undertake supervisory duties in the dining hall and playground as directed by the Head of Junior School Music;
• To act as a role model, showing awareness of individual needs and responding to them;
• Comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety, welfare, security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting any concerns to the appropriate person;
• To carry out other duties, as may be reasonably requested by the Director of Music, Head of Music and the Head of College of Dulwich College (Singapore).

• A minimum of GCE ‘A’ Levels or equivalent qualifications.
• Achievement in graded music examinations would be an advantage.
• A degree in Music is desirable but not essential.
• At least one year of relevant work experience, preferably in an administrative or educational setting.
• Experience using computer systems, including Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience teaching musical instruments; working knowledge of woodwind/brass or rock/pop band instruments would be particularly valuable.
• Experience playing the piano, including accompanying students for performances and examinations.
• Experience working independently with children with minimal supervision would be an advantage.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills.
• Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to relate well to children.
• A sound understanding of music education.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively across the College.
• A flexible approach to work, with the ability to prioritise and balance administrative and teaching responsibilities according to the school calendar.
• The ability to use initiative and work independently to complete required tasks.
