What you will be working on:
As part of the team, your responsibilities will include the following:
Propose, design and run simulations on air and water quality dispersion models to assess impact of new developments, track impact of pollution incidents, and identify sources of pollution, to support NEA’s policies and operations
Evaluate the methodology, risk impact assessment matrix, and air and water quality impacts for development projects, and where necessary conduct independent modelling runs to validate the impact assessments
Manage and propose air and water quality studies and projects to provide insights on air and water quality issues in Singapore (e.g. air and water quality projections and forecasts) and provide recommendations to solve these issues
Manage investigative studies to investigate the source of various pollution event
Develop and enhance dispersion modelling systems including an air and water quality forecasting system for Singapore. This could involve working with external agencies or appointed vendors
Carry out data analysis using statistical tools, e.g. R, to assess possible impact/trends of air and water quality due to related effects arising from climate change, and/or other factors
Collaborate with research institutions and internal stakeholders on scoping, planning and conduct of studies to improve air and water quality, including working with local and international institutes and cultivate relevant research and studies partnerships
Manage projects on understanding the sources, characteristics and environmental chemistry of air and water pollutants
What we are looking for:
Degree in Chemical/Environmental Engineering
Some knowledge in air and water quality, dispersion modelling software, GIS, data analytics, and/or statistics (e.g. R) would be an advantage
Demonstrate critical and analytical thinking and ability to articulate views clearly
Driven, self-motivated and resourceful
Demonstrate ability to undertake work both individually and part of a team
Good command of spoken and written English
Good communication and presentation skills
Demonstrate critical and analytical thinking skills and ability to articulate thoughts and views clearly
