Job summary
A prominent financial services firm in Kuala Lumpur is looking for an accountant to manage general ledger accounts, prepare financial reports, and ensure compliance with standards. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and has 2–3 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in SAP and strong analytical skills are essential. This role offers opportunities to support audits and process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional qualification or progress towards Chartered Accountant preferred.
- 2–3 years of relevant accounting experience.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Support the preparation of financial statements.

- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts in accordance with accounting policies and standards.
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
- Assist in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
- Support the preparation of financial statements, management reports.
- Prepare tax filings and work with Group Tax team for statutory submission.
- Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies on a timely basis.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and statutory requirements.
- Assist in audits (internal and external) by preparing schedules and documentation.
- Support process improvement initiatives, including automation and system enhancements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate reporting.
- Perform ad hoc assignments as and when required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional qualification or progress towards Chartered Accountant (e.g., ACCA, CPA, ICAEW) preferred.
- 2–3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in general ledger or financial reporting. Experience in audit (especially big 4) is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles (IFRS / local GAAP).
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred) and MS Excel.
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and able to work independently under tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
