Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Kuala Lumpur seeks a candidate to assist in preparing and drafting tender and contract documents. This role demands a diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and at least seven years of experience for internal candidates. Strong communication skills in both Bahasa Malaysia and English are required, along with good interpersonal skills. Job description
Job Responsibilities
  • Assist Engineer in preparing and drafting tender and contract documents according to the standard operating procedure (SOP) and other related instruction regarding the tendering and contracting process. Ensure the comprehensiveness of the document and update accordingly as/when needed.
  • Understand and be able to guide on the tender and contract document term/jargon for tender and contract management.
  • Work closely with other divisions towards completion of critical action items affecting the projects and provide advice on general issues and problems related to contract administration.
  • Be able to advise on the document strategy which includes the contracting contract layout issues and contracting schedule.
  • Preparation of the Division reports on the projects contractually highlighting their impact on cost and schedule.
  • Coordinate preparation of procurement and contract according to the Procurement Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
  • Provide guidance on submission and acceptance of the contractor’s deliverables.
  • Motivate and appraise section workforce to ensure compliance with discipline and performance according to human resource requirements.
  • Carry out other relevant works and tasks as instructed by the Senior Engineer, and Engineer of RSME Project & Procurement unit as and when required from time to time.
Requirements
  • Possess Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or contract administration or any related equal qualification from any recognized institution.
  • For internal candidate, minimum of seven (7) years of working experience in Job Grade J06G09.
  • Permanent and confirmed staff with average PMS grade C for the past three (3) years and no disciplinary record within three (3) years.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with staff at all levels.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
  • Self‑motivated, goal‑oriented, confident, flexible, adaptable to a fast‑working environment, work well with others, and independent to meet deadlines.
  • Remain vigilant and adjust to evolving work requirements.
