Job summary

A construction and engineering company based in Kuala Lumpur seeks a Safety Officer responsible for monitoring compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations. The ideal candidate will have a Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent and must be registered as a Safety Supervisor with DOSH. Responsibilities include risk assessment and providing training for new employees to ensure workplace safety and adherence to regulations.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related field is required.
• Knowledge of OSHA 1994 and FMA 1967 regulations is essential.
• Previous experience in safety supervision is an advantage.

Job description

Responsibilities

1. 1.1 To monitor, control and ensure total compliance of all safety, health and environmental, legal and corporate requirements of the company.
2. 1.2 To anticipate, prevent and eliminate all unsafe conditions and practices on the site that could lead to occupational injuries and illness.
3. 1.3 Work very closely with all department heads to provide input related to every major safety, health and environmental matters.
4. 1.4 To ensure the site is in full compliance to local authorities’ requirements and provide training as necessary. Towards zero accidents/ injuries – by periodic checks on all site procedures per requirements ensuring total adherence.
5. 1.5 To be actively involved in risk/hazard assessment on the site in the spirit of continual improvement.
6. 1.6 Dealing with DOE, DOSH, BOMBA and local authority to ensure good working relationship is maintained.
7. 1.7 To comply with all safety rules, safety working practices and procedures.
8. 1.8 To continue with weekly environmental checks around the factory/worksite to ensure the company complies with the SHE plan, procedures and statutory regulations.
9. 1.9 To ensure the security at worksite.
10. 1.10 To ensure the worksite is free from illegal activities.
11. 1.11 To provide induction for new employees briefed on the Company’s Safety Rules and Regulations.
12. 1.12 To implement all policies, activities, procedures, instructions as relevant and required by the ISO 45001 Management System.
13. 1.13 To ensure the Integrated Management Systems procedures and Anti-Bribery Management Systems are implemented.

Qualifications

1. 2.1 Degree / Diploma in Civil Engineering, Building Science or Certificate in Safety and Health Officer by NIOSH.
2. 2.2 Registered as Safety Supervisor with DOSH.
3. 2.3 Familiar with OSHA 1994 and FMA 1967 and its regulations.
