Job description
Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Procurement Specialist (Expeditor) to join us at our Greenfield manufacturing facility in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supply chain management with a focus on ensuring efficient material flow to support production schedules and meet customer demands.

Key Responsibilities
  • Order tracking and follow up on delinquencies, quality shortfalls—monitor purchase orders, confirm supplier acknowledgement, and track delivery progress.
  • Supplier coordination and turnaround—communicate regularly with suppliers to resolve delays, shortages and quality issues and work on mitigation actions to recover.
  • Create and maintain strong relationships with vendors, monitor performance and address delivery shortages or quality issues which are causing disruption to the production schedules.
  • Problem resolution – identify potential supply chain disruptions and implement corrective actions to minimize impact.
  • Documentation and reporting – maintain accurate records of orders, delivery schedules, and supplier performance metrics; use the reports as indicators for supplier performance tracking and intervene where required to minimize the supplier non-performance disruptions.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, such as procurement, production and logistics teams, to align supply timelines with operational needs and further optimise supply chain processes and drive continuous improvement.
  • Establish positive working relationship with critical suppliers and ensure that all levels escalations metrics are established to mitigate when issues arise pertaining to delivery or quality.
  • Compliance and quality checks – ensure supplier meets contractual, quality and regulatory requirements at all times.
  • Support internal reporting requirements and report status, progress, and any anticipated disruptions that are seen or expected.
  • Any other additional duties based on business needs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with at least 10+ years of buying experience in purchasing metals, cables, sheet metal, machining parts and electrical devices and/or PCBA’s (Printed Circuit Board Assemblies). Any managerial or key individual contributor experience is a plus for the role.
  • Semiconductor industry experience will be highly preferred; similar manufacturing sector exposure such as automotive, industrial manufacturing etc. is an added advantage.
  • Vendor management expertise; must have experience in buying from and dealing with overseas and local suppliers.
  • Well‑versed in inventory management techniques, including Just‑In‑Time (JIT) inventory, to minimize holding costs and ensure the availability of critical components.
  • Good analytical skills and proficiency with procurement ERP applications, i.e. Oracle Cloud/SAP, or similar platforms to streamline purchasing processes and maintain meticulous records.
  • Computer literate with experience using MS Office (Word, Excel, Access) and Business Intelligence tools as a plus point.
  • Ability to operate in a cross‑functional team to meet customer expectations and to work well under pressure, manage multiple priorities, deal with cross‑functional teams and regulatory authorities.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and Continuous Improvement methodologies is a plus.
  • Detail oriented with excellent organisational and management skills; fluent in English (spoken & written).
  • Strong skills in negotiating skills, delivery schedules, terms of payment, and understanding of production processes.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, proactive, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
