This is a full-time on-site role located in Kuala Lumpur/ Johor Bahru or Singapore for a Senior Mechanical Designer. The Senior Mechanical Designer will contribute to the design and development of mechanical systems, create and evaluate technical drawings, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to meet project specifications. The role involves applying mechanical engineering principles, utilizing computer-aided design (CAD) tools, and participating in research and development initiatives to innovate sustainable solutions for environmental challenges.
Develop detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for mechanical and process equipment (e.g., pressure vessels, tanks, piping systems, skids, structures, reactors, heat exchangers, material handling systems, etc.)
Prepare fabrication drawings, general arrangement drawings (GA), P&IDs, BOMs, and as-built documentation.
Work closely with mechanical and process engineers to interpret design requirements and convert concepts into manufacturable designs.
Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations (ASME, API, ISO, etc.).
Review vendor drawings and incorporate required changes into design packages.
Conduct design checks to ensure accuracy, manufacturability, safety, and cost efficiency.
Coordinate with internal teams (engineering, procurement, project, QA/QC) and external parties (vendors, fabricators, clients).
Support installation and commissioning teams by clarifying design intent when needed.
Participate in design reviews and propose design improvements.
Ensure all drawings and documentation adhere to company drafting standards and revision control.
Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Drafting, or related discipline.
Minimum 5 years of working experience in mechanical drafting/design, preferably in process equipment, industrial systems, or manufacturing industries.
Strong proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar 3D modelling tools.
Experience in Machine Design and Mechanical Engineering.
Proven ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects.
Experience in environmental engineering or sustainability-focused projects is an advantage.
Experience with pressure vessel design, piping layouts, or skid-mounted systems is an advantage.
Familiarity with engineering codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, ASTM).
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications.
Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Good communication and teamwork skills; able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver within deadlines.
