Security Systems Technician (CCTV, Access Control, Barriers)

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Security Systems Technician to join our installation and service team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining a wide range of electronic security systems at client sites. This role is hands-on and requires a strong technical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, mount, and terminate CCTV cameras (analog, IP, PTZ), DVRs/NVRs, and video management software (VMS).
- Install, wire, and program door access control systems, including card readers, electronic locks, door strikes, and access control panels.
- Install and configure automatic barrier gates, boom gates, and vehicle access systems.
- Run, pull, and terminate low-voltage cabling (Cat5e/6, coaxial, power) neatly and in compliance with codes.
- Install and power up all necessary equipment and hardware.
Troubleshooting & Service
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and system health checks on existing security systems.
- Diagnose and repair malfunctions in CCTV, access control, and barrier gate systems efficiently.
- Respond to service calls, identify issues, and implement effective solutions to minimize client downtime.
- Provide technical support to clients, both on-site and remotely.
Documentation & Communication
- Complete detailed job reports, service tickets, and installation documentation accurately and on time.
- As-built drawing mark-ups and updating system schematics.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, explaining the work performed and providing basic user training.
- Collaborate with the sales and project management teams to ensure project requirements are met.oject management teams to ensure project requirements are met.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Proven experience (2+ years) as a Security Technician, Low-Voltage Technician, or in a similar role, specifically withCCTV, Access Control, and/or Barrier Gates.
- Strong understanding of low-voltage electronics, wiring, and network fundamentals.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools used for installation.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work on ladders, and in various environmental conditions.

Highly Desirable
- Formal training or certifications in relevant security systems (e.g., from manufacturers like Hanwha Vision, Hikvision, Axis; LenelS2, Genetec; FAAC, BFT).
- Experience with IP-based network systems and configuring network settings for cameras and controllers.
- Understanding of electrical basics and relays.
- Industry certifications such as NICET, ESA, or PSP are a significant plus.
