Job summary

A leading steel manufacturing firm in Selangor, Malaysia is seeking a Safety and Health Officer to support organizational compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations. Responsibilities include conducting training, coordinating safety drills, and preparing reports for local authorities. Ideal candidates should hold a Diploma or Degree in safety, health, and environment, along with good interpersonal skills and teamwork abilities. This role is suitable for fresh graduates or those with minimal experience.

Job description
Essential Functions

1. To support the safety and Health officer to ensure the organization complies with applicable safety, health and environmental legal and other requirements:

  • Assist and conduct HSE planning, budget, inspection, meeting, activities, training and programs.
  • Enforce safety and health policies, guidelines and procedures that help prevent any accident or incident.
  • Coordinate and conduct yearly fire drills and chemical spillage drills.
  • Keeping records and follow-up work progress with relevant departments of the inspection findings, reports and workplace safety and health measures that suggest improvements and corrective action plans.
  • Assist in preparation reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to management when necessary and prepare relevant reports and checklists as required by the Local Authority bodies such as DOSH, DOE & etc.
  • Ensure proper safety/warning signages are in place.
  • Conduct safety briefings for new employees.
  • Arrangement for fire protection system, health surveillance, audiometric testing, CHRA, NRA and CEM.
  • Enforce safety rules and summons those who violate safety and environment rules.
  • Ensure the Safety & Health Committee performs job responsibilities.
  • Maintain, update and control all HSSE - related documents, records, SOP , manuals in accordance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements.

2. To support and implement QMS and OHSMS.

3. Any other duties as directed by the Superior.
